Horse- and Cattle-Stealing.
Supposed stolen on the 13tli or 14th January last, from a paddock at Normanby, sixty fat Lincoln ewes, branded G in tar on backs, a notch out of point of near ears and tip off same ear, value £27 ; and about twenty-five lambs, unshorn, value 6s. each ; the property of Goodson Brothers. Ewes identifiable.
(See Police Gazette, 1889, page 29.) The two horses, the property of Paora Mattiu, reported stolen from Bowentown, Katikati, have been recovered.

The steer, the property of Thomas Gregory, reported stolen from Cabbage-tree Swamp, Waihi Plains, has been recovered; not stolen.

The cattle, the property of William Kinsella, reported stolen from Waihi Plains have been recovered; they were not stolen.
Supposed stolen about the 15tli January last, from a paddock at Eltham Road, Taranaki, a bay mare, black points, hack-breed, six years old, about 15J hands high, star on forehead, one hind fetlock white and a little white on the other, branded KAU on near side (the K on the shoulder and the AU extending under the saddle-flaps); the property of William Mortlook; value £7. Identifiable. Maoris suspected.
Supposed stolen on the 26th or 27th ultimo, from Burwood, near Christchurch, a black gelding, hack-breed, aged, about 15 hands high, star on forehead, in good condition, shod, unbranded, value £10; and a black mare, hack-breed, three years old, about 15 hands high, one hind fetlock white, in good condition, shod, unbranded, recently broken to saddle, value £ls ; the property of Charles Thornton Dudley. Identifiable.
Supposed stolen on the 24th or 25th ultimo, from Grehan Valley, Akaroa, a dark-chestnut hack-mare, black points, five years old, 14J hands high, branded H on near shoulder, collar-marked, a few white hairs in mane, recently shod, a fast trotter ; value £ls ; the property of Edwin Stone Chappell. Identifiable.
