Wm. F. DRUMMOND JERVOIS, Governor. IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “ The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that pheasants and Californian and Australian quail may be taken or killed within the Auckland District, consisting of the Auckland Provincial District, excepting the Counties of Cook, Whakatane, Tauranga, East Taupo, and Wairoa, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive (subject, nevertheless, to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And Ido further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of thirty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Auckland is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do further notify that native game (except tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twelfth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Constable Thomas Hicks to be an Inspector of Weights and Measures, under “ The Weights and Measures Act, 1868,” and “ The Weights and Measures Act Amendment Act, 1873,” for the Timaru District; also to appoint Constable Samuel Joseph Dew to be an Inspector of Weights and Measures, under the said Acts, for the Counties of Marlborough and Sounds and the Boroughs of Picton and Blenheim, vice Constable Collett, resigned. And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of thirty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall bo issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Postmaster at Hawera is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “ The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants and Californian quail may be taken or killed within the Wanganui District, consisting of the Counties of Wanganui and Rangitikei, and that hares may be taken or killed in that portion of the said district lying to the south of the Turakina River, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall bo issued on payment of the sum of twenty-one shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each ; and the Chief Postmaster at Wanganui, and the Postmasters at Waverley, Waitotara, Turakina, Marton, and Bull’s are hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And Ido further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of tho sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Wellington and the Postmasters at Masterton and Featherston are hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do further notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district between the eleventh day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, and tho thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive. IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “ The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that pheasants and quail may be taken or killed within the Manawatu District, comprising the Counties of Manawatu and Oroua, from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive ; and that hares may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirtieth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Acts mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty-one shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each ; and the Postmaster at Palmerston is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do further notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the first

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by “ Tho Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “ The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of tho Colony of New Zealand, do hereby declare that cock-pheasants and Californian quail may be taken or killed within the Marlborough District, consisting of tho Counties of Marlborough and Sounds, excepting the area described in the Second Schedule hereto, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eightyfour, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive. And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of one pound each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each ; and that the Chief Postmaster at Blenheim is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And I do further notify that the native game mentioned in the First Schedule hereto may be taken or killed within the said district during the period between the seventeenth day of March, one thousand oight hundred and eighty-four, and the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive ; and that native pigeons may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-four, both inclusive.

FIRST SCHEDULE. Wild duck of any species, bittern, pied stilt plover, wild geese, dotterel, teal, black stilt plover, curlew, quail.

SECOND SCHEDULE. District in which Native and Imported Game may not BE TAKEN OR KILLED. All that portion of the Counties of Marlborough and Sounds known as the Wairau Lagoons. Bounded generally on the West by the Wairau River to the confluence of the Opawa, and by that river to Morgan’s Creek; thence by Morgan’s Creek and Sections Nos. 22, 21, and 20 to the north-west angle of Section No. 18, all in tho District of Opawa ; thence southerly by said Section No. 18 to the Mud Flats ; thence southerly by Sections Nos. 18, 15, 14, part of 13, and 7, of Block 1., Section No. 8 of Block 11., in the said district, and Sections Nos. 9 and 10 of Block 11., District of Awatere, to the Boulder Bank; thence northerly by the sea to the mouth of the Wairau River, at the point of departure. And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within tho said district shall bo issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such gamo shall be issued on payment of the sum of fivo pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster fat Nelson is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And Ido further notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the firf.t day of April, one thousand

And Ido further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Oamaru is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses.
