Resigned. Constable William Gray Sutherland, No. 2130. Discharged. Constable Charles Edgar Hartington Trevelyan, No. 2560. Erratum: For “Constable William Walters, No. 2571,” in last Gazette, under heading “ Discharged on Reduction of Field Force,” read “Constable William Watters, No. 2571.” Rewards. The sum of £2 has been awarded to Constable Thomas Joseph McCormack, Lyttelton Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the ship “ City of Nankin.”
The sum of £1 ss. each has been awarded to Constables Henry Porter and William Henry Higgins, Port Chalmers Police, for the arrest of two seamen for being absent without leave from the steamer “ Florida.”
The sum of £5 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Nicholas Marsh, Napier Police, in recognition of his creditable exertions in connection with the detection and prosecution of four persons fined £5 and costs each for sly grog-selling.
The sum of £2 has been awarded to Constable Thomas Joseph McCormack, Lyttelton Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the steamer “ Florida.”
The sum of £3 each has been awarded to Acting Sergeant William Lyons and Constable Patrick Fleming, Wellington and Masterton Police, for the arrest of two deserters from the steamer “British Queen.”
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable William Hunter Barrett, and the sum of 6s. Bd. each to Constables Patrick O’Farrell, Thomas Milton, James Kilkenny, Charles Slight, James Robinson, and Joseph Kenny, Wellington Police, for the arrest of five seamen for being absent without leave from the steamer “British Queen,” and for putting them on board the steamer.
The sum of £3 has been awarded to Sergeant James Anderson, Wellington Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the ship “ Margaret Galbraith.”
The sum of 10s. has been awarded to Constable Timothy O’Rourke, Wellington Police, for the arrest of a seaman for refusing to join the ship “ Margaret Galbraith.”
The sum of £1 each has been awarded to Sergeant Joseph Barrett and Constable James Coughlan, Westport Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the steamer “ Florida.”
A temporary police-station has been formed at Pahautanui, in the Wellington District.
