Missing Friends.

Information is requested respecting Abel Ashburn or Ashburner, a native of Main Street, St. Bees, Camforth, England, a farm labourer, about twenty-seven years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, light-grey eyes, lightbrown hair, full lower lip, bridge of nose round. “A A ” marked with Indian ink on one of arms. He left Glasgow on the 7th August, 1878, by the ship “Timaru,” for this colony, and was last heard of from Timaru on the 9th July, 1879. Inquiry is made for him at the instance of his father.

Information is requested respecting Frank William Foley, a native of Ireland, a clerk, thirty-three years of age, 6 feet high, medium build, dark-brown hair, small dark whiskers and moustache, chin shaved, active appearance. He recently arrived from Capo Town, South Africa, and was arrested for drunkenness at Wellington on the 15th December last, and was subsequently seen at Masterton, but he cannot be found there now. He is inquired for so that a bank deposit receipt for £6,000, which he lost at Wellington, may be returned to him.

Information is requested respecting James Williams Willan, a native of Liverpool, a metal agent when in Liverpool, thirty-three years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, rather stout build. He left London on the 6th June, 1877, as a second-class passenger by the ship “ Orari,” for Wellington, and was heard of at New Plymouth on the 26tli April, 1880. He was learning farming with a Mr. Wade, at Lower Mangorei, Taranaki, and it is said subsequently purchased land there. In 1880 he spoke of going to Melbourne to meet a brother whom he expected from home. He is inquired for at the request of James Willan, 193 Park Street, Liverpool. Information is requested respecting Edward Conlan, a native of County Armagh, Ireland, a farm labourer, seventythree years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build. Information is also requested respecting his son John Conlan. They left Ireland about twelve years ago for this colony, and were heard of, about six years since, from Otago. They are inquired for at the instance of Hugh Conlan, care Mr. Ford, 112 Bridge Street, Dublin.

Information is requested respecting Robert Henry Mulley, who is said to be in this colony. Ilis mother and sisters

have arrived in Brisbane from England, and are anxious to hear from liim.

Information is requested respecting Julia Bateman, sometimes called Berry, supposed a native of Dublin, a cook or general servant, about forty years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, slight build, dark complexion, long visage, dark hair turning grey. She arrived in Wellington from London about six years ago, and acted as housekeeper for John Ward, late a drummer in the Gotli Regiment and a messenger in the Government Buildings, up to the time of his death, which occurred about five years ago. She left Porirua about three years ago, and has not since been heard of. She is inquired for at the instance of her sister, who resides in New York.

Information is requested respecting Joseph William Rowan. He wrote to his mother in Ireland early in 1880, saying that ho purposed going to see her about the end of that year or early the following year, but he has not done so, and she has not heard from him since. He requested his letters to be addressed in care of Mr. Andrew Ramsay, Green Island, Otago. Inquiry is made for him at the request of his mother, Mrs. Jane Rowan, West Street, Portadown, Ireland.
