Resignations. Second-class Sergeant Raimona, No. 499. Constable Timothy Carroll, No. 808. Constable Clement Tyrwhitt, No. 2575. Discharged. Constable Robert Lawrence Allen, No. 337. Rewards. The sum of £2 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Sergeant-Major Andrew Thompson, Oamaru Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the detection and prosecution of Mary Cogan, fined £5 and costs for sly grog-selling.
The sum of £3 has been awarded to Detective Robert Bain, Dunedin Police, for the arrest of a straggler from Her Majesty’s ship “ Espiegle.”
The sum of £2 has been awarded to Constable John Hanson, Dunedin Police, for the arrest of two stragglers from Her Majesty’s ship “ Espiegle.”
The sum of £5 each has been awarded to Constables Patrick J. Herlihy and Thomas Drake, Lyttelton Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the steamer “ British King.”
The sum of £2 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Morgan O’Flaherty, Christchurch Police, in recognition of the tact and activity shown by him in arresting two boys named Smith and Rose, convicted of stealing £ll from a safe in the office of Mr. Delamain, Gloucester Street.
The sum of £3 has been awarded to Acting-Sergeant William Lyons, Wellington Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the barque “ Amazon.”
The sum of 12s. 6d. each has been awarded to ActingSergeant William Lyons, Constables Timothy O’Rorke and James Sheldon, anil the sums of £1 17s. Gd. and £1 ss. respectively to Constables Maurice Roche and William Hunter Barrett, Wellington Police, for the arrest of eight of the crew of the steamer “ British King,” charged with being absent without leave.
The sum of £3 each has been awarded to Detective Samuel Brennan and Constable James Gleeson, and the sum of £2 to Sergeant Patrick Fair, Wellington Police, for the arrest of four seamen who deserted from the ship “ Westland.”
The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Acting-Sergeant William McLeod, Cromwell Police, in recognition of his praiseworthy exertions in connection with the arrest, &c., of William McCrain, sentenced at the lato sittings of the Supreme Court, Dunedin, to six months’ labour for stealing money from a dwelling.
The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Sergeant Percy F. Carlyon, Naseby Police, in recognition of his praiseworthy exertions in connection with the prosecution of Peter Law, fined £lO and costs on two charges for breaches of “ The Brands and Branding Act, 1880.”
