Extract from Tasmania Reports of Crime.

(From Reports of Crime, 1883, page 190.) Boston, U.S.A. An indictment warrant has been issued in Boston, United States of America, for the arrest of a man calling himself C. F. Dewey, also known as 0. R. Halpert, for obtaining by forgery SBO,OOO. Description: About thirty-three years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, black hair, dark piercing eyes; when last seen had small black moustache and very thin whiskers on side of face, trimmed short, high cheek-bones with some colour in cheeks, dark yellowish complexion, like a Chinaman, about 120 lb. weight; an Alsatian Jew, and, though using good English, speaks with a strong German accent, sounding “w” like “ v,” as “ven” for “when;” is educated, speaking several languages, German being probably his native tongue; gentlemanly in his bearing. He had a woman with him of dark complexion, from twenty-five to twenty-eight years of age, black hair and eyes, heavy eyelashes and brows, her own hair banged, taller than average, slightly stooping, rather awkward gait, very pleasing voice intelligent in conversation, evidently well educated, largo hands; she may be with him now.
