Stealing Otherwise than from the Person or from Dwellings.

(See Police Gazette, 1882, page 8.) Mary Pickersgill, charged on warrant with stealing Margaret McKinney, from Ormond, has been arrested by Sergeant Henry Martin, Auckland Police, and discharged. She sent the girl back to her parents.

Supposed stolen from on board the steamer “Maori,” at the Rattray Jetty, Dunedin, or at Oamaru, three cases of Dunvill’B whiskey, branded F over O; the property of the Union Steamship Company; value £6 15s. Cases identifiable.

Stolen on the sth or 6th instant, from the Domain, Auckland, four Maori hens; the property of the Auckland Acclimatization Society.

Stolen on the 23rd or 24t.h ultimo, from the verandah of the house of James McCormack, Hobson Street, Auckland, a silk umbrella, sixteen ribs, straight handle, and a green-carpet bag, with strong flat leather handles, containing a pair of balmoral boots, a razor, and strop, a pair of socks, and a handkerchief marked J.M.C.; value £2. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 16th and 23rd ultimo, from the enginehouse, Manganese Mines, Orongo Bay, Russell, a 14-lb. tin, containing about 6ib. of white-lead; value 65.; the property of John Tucker, who offers £5 reward on conviction of the offender or offenders.

Stolen between the 6th and Bth instant, from the railwayplatform at Featherston, a Hennessy’s brandy-case, addressed “H. Bunny, Esq., Featherston,” containing twelve bottles of limejuice ; the property of Henry Bunny; value £1 4s. Case identifiable.

Stolen on the 29th or 30tli ultimo, from the bunk of Thomas R. Ashworth, on board the steamer “Kennedy,” at Westport, a £L note, two half-sovereigns, and 10s. in silver.

Stolen on the 271 h ultimo, from the clothes-line of James Neilson, High Street, Dunedin, a white-cotton counterpane, with three iron-rust spots, and a twill sheet; value 16s. Identifiable.

The saddle and clothing, &c., stolen from the stable of Cbai-les Wilson, at Sydenham, have been recovei’ed, and J. T. Smith, alias John Kittenburg, arrested for the offence by Detective Thomas Neil, Christchurch Police, and sentenced to six months’ labour.

Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from a truck at the Upper Hutt Railway Station, a wooden navvy wheelbarrow with iron wheel, broad tire, a broad arrow branded on shafts ; the property of the Government; value £1 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 2Gth or 27th ultimo, from llie clothes-line of William Charles Nation, at Greytown, a ladies’ nightdress with insertion in front, a pillow-case, a honeycomb towel, two aprons, one a printers’, and a dozen doublets for infauts ; value £l. Printers’ apron and nightdress identifiable.

Stolen between the 16th and 21st ultimo, from Plutform Farm, near Greytown, twenty-one turkeys, seventeen dark-grey

colour and four cream colour; the property of Benjamin Kimberley ; value £4 4s.

Stealing- a portmanteau, &c., the property of Frederick C. H. Dibble, from on board the steamer “ Rose Casey : ” The black-silk racing-jacket has been found at the end of the Waiwera bridge, near where also was found part of the portmanteau.

Stolen between the 22nd and 24th ultimo, from near the new Savings Bank, Auckland, a 14-inch galvanized-iron bucket; the property of James Heron ; value ss. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 26th or 27th idtimo, from the Museum, Christchurch, a thin dark board with glass at each side, having holes containing a sovereign, a half-sovereign, a five-shilling piece, a half-crown, a florin, a shilling, sixpence, fourpence, threepence, two twopenny pieces, two pence (one copper, the other bronze), two halfpence, a farthing, and a half-farthing, all dated 1853, except the bronze penny, which is dated 1847. The money had never been in circulation, and is the property of Dr. Julius Yon Haast.

Stolen during the night of the sth instant, from the clothesline of Mary Simon, Don Street, Invercargill, two linen tablecloths, one nearly new, the other partly worn; value 12s. Identifiable.
