Deserting Wives and Families, &c.

James Walmsley is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with deserting his wife, at Dunedin, on the 14th ultimo. Description : English, a plasterer, about thirty years of age, about 6 feet high, sight, build, rather fair complexion, short fair beard, whiskers, and moustache, impediment in speech. He was at Lyttelton on the 16th ultimo, supposed with the intention of going to Sydney by the steamer “ YVakatipu.”

The warrant issued by the Tiuiaru Bench for the arrest of George Moth, for failing to support his illegitimate child by Annie Eley, has been cancelled.

Michael Rooney is charged, on warrant of commitment to gaol for seven days’ labour, issued by the Christchurch Bench, in default of paying a fine of £1 and £2 12s. costs, for using abusive and threatening language towards A. C. Truscott. Description : Irish, a labourer, about forty years of age, 5 feet 10£ inches high, very stout build, florid complexion, thick red nose, high cheek-bones, fair hair, sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache; wore grey-tweed coat, dark-tweed trousers, and dark soft felt hat.
