Missing Friends.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Lachlan Langlands, a native of Campbelltowu, Argyleshire, Scotland, where he left about twenty-five years ago for this colony, and was last heai'd of by his friends in Scotland about eight years since, when, it is believed, lie was engaged sheepfarming. His nephew, W. J. Langlands, care of J. B. Cullen, Stawell Street, Sale, Gippsland, Victoria, is anxious to know of his whereabouts, if living, or, if dead, the particulars of his death.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Michael McMahon, a native of the South of Ireland, a goldminer and contractor, thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, broad shoulders, full (lushed features, brown hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache ; usually wears grey-tweed clothes; fond of drink. lie is supposed !o have left Wellington on the 13th ultimo by the schooner “ Australind” for Sydney. Inquiry is made for him at the request of his wife.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Patrick Brennan, a native of Nenagh, Tipperary, Ireland, twenty-four years of age. lie left London on the Ist February, 1875, by the ship “ Hindostan ” for this colony, and was last heard of from Hawera in 1879, where be had been in the Light Horse Volunteers. Inquiry is made for him at the request of his father, who resides at Korist Place, near the Elephant and Castle Hotel, Geelong, Victoria.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of William Desmond, known also as Nichols, formerly a seaman, sixty-six years of age, and of his brother, Janies Desmond, forty-five years of age, natives of Duncannon, County Wexford, Ireland. William arrived in the colony by Her Majesty’s ship “Beagle,” and it is said was married at Port Nicholson, but no record of the marriage can be found in the Registrar-General’s office. James had his leg broken when a boy. They were beard of at Port Nicholson about twenty-seven years since, and are now supposed to be farmers or land-proprietors. Inquiry is made for them at the request of Thomas Desmond, care of Messrs. W. Stewart and Co., 58, South John Street, Liverpool.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Charles Herbahn, a native of Germany, a labourer, thirty years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, fair complexion, brown hair, light-brown whiskers and moustache, chin shaved. He left Featherston for Sydney on the 7th September, 1880, and on the 29th May last was heard of from Callen Park Works Office, Balmain, Sydney. Inquiry is made for him at the request of his wife, who, and her children, are destitute at Featherston.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Emma Redmond, a domestic servant, nineteen years of age, short stout build, fresh complexion. She left Plymouth on the 23rd August, 1880, by the ship “ Pleione,” for this colony, and before leaving resided at Maida Vale, London. Inquiry is made for her at the instance of Mary Lemon, 24, Cambridge Gardens, Kilburn, Loudon, N.W.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts and circumstances of Alfred Tovey Hassell, who left King George’s Sound on the 4th September, 1879, for Adelaide, and, it is believed, soon after came to this colony. Description : Thirtyfour or thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, slight, build, dark-brown eyes and hair, small thin dark whiskers, moderate moustache, very little if any beard, rather sallow' complexion ; walks fast, with arms straight, and palms of hands turned slightly outwards; usually carries a cane, which he frequently strikes his leg with ; slight occasional hesitation in speech. Inquiry is made for him at the instance of his friends.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of William Hillson, a native of London, a labourer, thirty-nine years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, slight build, brown eyes, very dark and pale complexion, black hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache ; upper front teeth broken. He was heard of from Helensville, near Auckland, in March last, and was then employed at bush-work. His wife, who lives at Napier, is very anxious to hear from him, and fears that some harm has happened to him.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Edward Hippsley Porch, or Portch, a railway labourer, who arrived at Dunedin from England by the ship “ Lutterworth ” on the 4th April, 1873. He left Dunedin for Oamaru, in which district he was employed by Messrs. Brogden and Sons on rail-way-works up to 1875, when he left for the North Island. Inquiry is made for him at the request of his father, who resides at North Walton, Somersetshire, England, through the Post-master-General, Wellington. His brother, John Hippsley, Tullinery Point, Wentworth, New South Wales, is also anxious to know his address.
