Inquest.
At inquest was held on the 22nd ultimo, at the Wade Hotel Wade, by Thomas Leigh, Esq., J.P., on the body of a man name unknown, found on the 6th ultimo, in a decomposed state lying across a log in the Rangitopuni Creek, Dai y Flat, near Wade. Yerdict: “Found dead.” Description: About fiftyfive years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, stout, build, darkbrown hair, sandy beard turning grey ; dressed in blue coat, tweed vest, moleskin trousers, and bluclier boots. A letter, evidently from a sister to a brother, dated the 6th April, 1881, writteu from Rock harden, East Grinstead, and signed, “ M. A. Wood,” was found in one of deceased’s pockets. It is believed that the body floated down the creek, when flooded, to whei’e found.
