Reivards. The sum of £2 has been awarded to Constable Lawler, the sum of 15s. to Constable Henry, and the sums of 10s. each to Constables Kenny and Cleary, Lyttelton Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the arrest and prosecution of nine seamen, four of whom were sentenced to nine months’ labour and four to three months’ labour each for broaching cargo on board the barque “ Remington the other offender was discharged.

The sum of £lO has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Charles M. Brunskill, Featherston Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of William Taylor, of Lake Ferry House, fined £2O and costs on two charges of sly grog-selling.

The sum of £1 has been awarded by Mr. Edward Snowball to Constable Joseph Day, New Plymouth Police, in recognition of the tact and energy shown by him in recovering a stolen chain and locket, and the arrest and prosecution for the offence of Carroll, alias Julian, sentenced to six months’ labour.

The sum of £2 2s. has been awarded by the Manager of the National Bank, Napier, to Detective Martin Grace, Napier Police, in recognition of his services in recovering £42 obtained by means of a forged cheque, and the arrest of Timothy Connolly, sentenced at the last sittings of the Supreme Court, Napier, to eighteen months’ labour for the forgery.

The police-station at Cardrona has been closed, and a policestation opened at Pembroke, Lake District, instead.

About the 21st ultimo the door of the letter pillar box at Stanmore Bridge, Bingsland, the property of the Government, was maliciously broken open, and damaged to the extent of 10s.

Between the 19tli and 21st ultimo, at Woodside, West Taieri, a saw-mill engine, the property of Allan Mann, was maliciously damaged to the extent of about £2O.

During- the night of the 23rd ultimo, at Bendigo Gully, about 105 feet of iluming, the property of the Bendigo QuartzMining Company, was maliciously broken and damaged to the extent of £2O.
