Horse and Cattle Stealing.

(See Police Gazette, 1880. page 54.) The two bay pony mares, the property of Charles Moody, supposed stolen from a paddock at Drummond Street, Wellington, have been recovered.

Supposed stolen between the 16th and 27th ultimo, from a paddock at, Blueskin, six red-ami-white spotted calves, nine months old, branded C on right ribs; the property of John Colehan. Identifiable.

Stolen on the sth instant, from Greytown, a dark-bay cob, no white, aged, about, 15 hands high, docked tail, dark points, unbranded, shaft-marks on both sides ; had on an old saddle worn at pommel, new stirrup-leathers, leather girth with two buckles, an old bridle with a tin-plated snaflle-bit fastened to end of throat-lash on oil* side; the property of Edward Vennell; value £ls. Identifiable. The horse, saddle, and bridle were sold on the morning of the 6th instant, atTauheru, by a man who gave his name as Robert Ryan Weston. Description : Irish (believed to be a native of Cork), about twentyfive years of age, about 5 feet 4 inches high, dark hair, cleanshaved except small side whiskers, high cheek-bones, upper part of face square and lower part to chin narrow, broad Irish accent, talkative ; wore dark-blue paget coal, grey check-pattern trousers, soft black-felt hat, and good watertight boots, lie spent most of the money he received for the horse atTauheru, and, it is supposed, then took (he Maungapakeha Road, or the road to Wanganui.

Supposed stolen during the night of the 12th instant, from a paddock at Turakina, a near]y-thoroughbred hay saddle horse, five years old, 15| hands high,'branded 913 under half circle on oil' shoulder, star on forehead with white streak down to nose, hind fetlocks white, burn-mark on near side of neck ; tho property of John Baldwin; value £4u. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 10th instant, from Waipawa, a bay pony mare, no white, seven years old, between 13 and 14 hands high, very fat, a small lump on near side of nose, branded W on off shoulder; a hogskin saddle, flaps recently repaired, threebar sti i*i up-irons. A man seen riding the mare towards Woodville is believed to lie identical with C. Cary, alias Kelly, charged on warrant with the larceny as a bailee of a saddle and bridle. (See Police Gazette of the 7ill instant, page 53.) He stole a horse at Taupo on the 7th instant, which he left knocked up at Waipawa.

Stolen during the night of the 29th ultimo, from a paddock at Parawai, Thames, a bay racing pony, about 14 hands high, remarkably high sharp wither, rather long thin neck, branded like two half circles conjoined on off shoulder, dent on near side of neck as if from bleeding ; the property of James Marshall; value £ 1 5. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 28th ultimo and lltli instant, from the farm of Donald Campbell, at Luke Waipori, a red-and-white fat bullock, three years old, branded DC on off rump, a round hole in the middle of off ear ; value £7. Identifiable.

James Wylie is charged, on warrant issued by the Tauranga Bench, with stealing, on the 24th ultimo, at Tauranga, a bay gelding; value £l2 (since recovered); the property of David 11. M. Bill. Description: Supposed English, thirty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, sandy complexion, beard, whiskers, and moustache. There are other charges of larceny against this offender.

Stolen about the 11th instant from a paddock at Masterton, a dark-brown gelding, about six years old, between 13 and 14 hands high, branded E in circle on near shoulder, and H on off shoulder; the property of Edward Kebblewhite; value £lO. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 19th ultimo and si!i instant, at Ngaruawahia, Auckland, a grey mare, aged, 15£ hands high, branded D on near shoulder, a loug piece cut out of near ear, scar on hind hoof; the property of Robert Flemming; value £B. Identifiable.
