Escaped Prisoner.
Graham Flowers is charged, on warrant issued by the Greymouth Bench, with escaping, on the morning of the 19th ultimo, from the custody of Constable Martin Casliion, at Otira Gorge, Christchurch Road. Description: A native of Nelson, a cattle-dealer and drover, about thirty-two years of age, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet high, slight build, smart active appearance, fair hair, large fair moustache and goatee beard, cheeks shaved, blue eyes, full florid features ; wore black frock-coat, dark striped trousers, black hat, lace-up boots, and white muffler round neck; a good bushman. lie was arrested at Christchurch on the 15th ultimo, charged with the larceny as a bailee of fifty-four head of cattle, the property of John Davis, and remanded to Greymouth, and, while being escorted there, escaped from custody. He was seen at 2 p.m. on the 19th ultimo at Hurunui Saddle, supposed to bo making for Bruce’s Paddock and Lake Brunner towards his home, hut he may cross the ranges into Canterbury. He owns land at the head of the Brown Grey. He has been traced to the junction of Hope and Kiwi Rivers. It is supposed he went over Hope or Lewis Saddle in the direction of Cannibal Gorge, which is about the boundary of Inangahua County. He was riding a brown cob mare, aged, 15) hands high, star on forehead, one of hind fetlocks white, bob tail, the top off off ear, indistinct brand on near shoulder, value £ls, which he stole from Lake Sumner Station during the night of the 20th ultimo. He is also charged on warrant with cattle-stealing.
