At 4.30 p.m. on the 19th ultimo Alexander Gordon left Ashburton with a dray and three horses for his brother’s farm at Kyle, and was seen about 7 p.m. on the same day at Mill Road, Wakanui, since when no trace of him can be found. The horses were found on tho 22nd in a starving condition, and it is feared Gordon perished during the severe snow-storm on the night of the 19th. Description : A native of Perthshire, Scotland, a stone-cutter and ploughman, forty-two years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, slightly stooped, black hair, dark-brown whiskers and moustache, beard of about a month’s growth, half of a lower right front tooth broken off, a large wart on one of insteps; wore heavy dark-check tweed coat, dark-check tweed trousers, dark-check shirt, and old drab-felt hat with straps round it.

He left Gdasgow on the 6th of December, 1865, by the ship “Heleuslee,” for Otago, where he was last heard of. James McNeil and Watson, both masons, left by the same ship. Inquiry is made for him at the request of Peter Sharp, builder, Comrie, Perthshire.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Maria Taylor, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Howe, of North Tawton, County Devon, England. She was heard from about three years ago. Inquiry is made for her at the request of Jane Pope, 44, Lower North Street, Exeter, Devon.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of John Farrar, a native of Halifax, Yorkshire, about sixty-one years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, reddish sandy complexion, hair turning grey, inclines slightly to the left, right shoulder higher than left. For twenty-five years prior to 1875 lie resided in Dublin, where lie was employed as a steam-boat cattle agent; from 1875 to 1877 he resided in Liverpool. It is believed lio has come to this colony since May, 1877. Inquiry is made for him at the request of Thomas James Taylor, 7, Lower Castle Street, Liverpool.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of James Daly, a native of London, a tobacconist, twenty-three years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair complexion, dark-auburn hair, whiskers, and moustache, chin shaved, left arm amputated at elbow. He left Wellington on the 27th of April last by the steamer “Hawea” for Christchurch, and has not since been heard of. Inquiry is made for him at the request of his wife.

Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Angus Clark, Scotch, a gold-miner, thirty-eight years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout build, walks erect, sandy hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache; had been in the army. He left the Kirtle Burn Hotel, Roaring Meg, at 9 p.m. on the 20th ultimo, for his home, and has not since been heard of.
