Deserters from Merchant Vessels.
James G-rant, James Burns, James Dick, Edward Howard, and J. Berry are charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting from the barque “ Western Belle,” at Wellington, on the sth instant. Description : Grant is Scotch, thirty-six years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair hair and complexion. Burns is Irish, twenty-three years of age, 6 feet 8 inches high, dark hair and complexion. Dick is an American, thirty-six years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, fair hair and complexion. Howard is twenty years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high. Berry is an American, twenty-four years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, brown hair and complexion.
Henry Harris is charged with deserting from the brig “ Transport,” at Whangaroa, on the 22nd ultimo. Description : Irish, a cook, twenty-three years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, fresh complexion, sandy hair, cheeks shaved.
James Simpson, alias Slim Jim, is charged, on warrant issued by the Wellington Bench, with deserting from the barque “ Western Belle,” at Wellington, on the 9th instant. Description: English, a seaman, twenty-seven years of age, 6 feet high, slight build, sallow complexion, stooped shoulders, dark-brown hair, small dark-brown beard and moustache ; wore blue-corded paget coat, brown-check-tweed trousers and vest, and white Yankee hat; generally has his hands in his trousers pockets. A reward of £1 is offered for his arrest.
John G-. Duncan, Henry Williams, and Hugh McAllister arc charged, on -warrants issued by tho Wellington Bench, with deserting from the ship “ Pleione,” at Wellington, on the 9th instant. Description: Duncan is a native of India, Scotch parentage, an apprentice-seaman, seventeen years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, dark eyes and complexion, and black hair. Williams is English, an apprentice seaman, seventeen years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, slight build, large-boned, fair complexion, and dark-brown hair. McAllister is Irish, a boatswain, forty-eight years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, stooped shoulders, black hair turning grey, grey whiskers, no beard or moustache. A reward of £2 each is offered for the arrest of Duncan and Williams.
