Left- The main highway between Waitangi and Owenga. Farming has not progressed as rapidly as it might have done and an essential step toward closer settlement and higher production is the building of many miles of metalled roads. Right- In places the nature of the ground has forced the abandonment of surveyed roads and traffic goes willy-nilly as surface conditions permit.
