LONDON WOOL-SALES.
Following are the High Commissioner's cabled reports regarding the seventh series of London wool-sales :
24/10/16. —The sales have opened with a strong competition and a large attendance of buyers. There is an active demand by Home buyers, but Continental buyers are quiet. There is a good demand for all kinds of wool. Greasy wool is scarce and has advanced a halfpenny on the closing rates of last sales. The total net quantity of New Zealand wool available is 68,250 bales, mostly scoured and slipe. 10/11/16. —The sales have closed firm for all kinds of wool. The market is good, owing largely to shortness of supplies, and has advanced rapidly during this week. Estimated closing values are as follows : Fine crossbreds, is. rod. to 2S. 2d. ; medium crossbreds, is. 6d. to is. 9|d. ; coarse crossbreds, is. 4|d to is. Bd. ; superior merino, is. nd. to 2s. 3d. ; medium merino, is. yd. to. is. io|d. ; inferior merino, is. 3d. to is. 6|d.
