MANAWATU RACING CLUB.
SUMMER MEETINGThe executive of the Manawatu Racing Club met last week and passed the programme for the three days’ summer meeting to be held at Christmas time. Increases totalling £2450 have been made in respect of the stake money allocated for the three days. The stakes for the opening day (Boxing Day) have been increased by £lO5O, the Manawatu Cup (handicap) now being of the value of 1250 sovs., an increase of 250sovs. compared with last year’s stake for the
big mile and a-quarter event. The increase made in th e prize money for the second day amounts to £6OO, and for the third day £BOO. The following officials have been elected- in connection with the meeting:—Judge, Mr. J. R. L. Stanford; starter, Mr. A. Keith; timekeeper, Mr. P. O’Connor; clerk of the course, Mr. H. R. Lancaster; clerk of scales, Mr. W. Randell. handicapper, Mr. J. E. Henry; surgeon. Dr. Putnam; veterinary surgeon, Mr. R. H. Meade,
