THE BRACKENFIELD STUD.
CLEARING SALE. Having disposed of his Brackenfield property in Canterbury, Mr. Gerald Stead has instructed Pyne, Gould and Guinness, the well-known autcioneers of Canterbury, to sell at Christchurch on April 7, commencing at 10 a.m., the whole of his stud of thoroughbreds, consisting of the imported stud horse Nassau . (3), by William the Third from Stolen Love, by Buccaneer; the imported mares Ormolu, Sheebeen IL, Bonnyrig, the Australian-bred mares Brayton, Casswell, Mountain Dream and St. Sophia, and Culross. Glenlake and Kilmart, each served by Nassau with the exception of Kilmart. The steeplechase gelding Collector, Astray, and the four-year-old. mare . Dessert follow. Then come Barmaid, a yearling filly by Nassau from Sheebeen 11. (imp.); a yearling gelding, Orange, by Nassau (imp.) from Ormolu (imp.), and a filly, Leithfield, by Nassau (imp.) from Garston. and the following horses in training: Bay gelding Melee, 4yrs., by Martian —Formless, a good performer; brown gelding Starland, 3yrs„ a winner, by Nassau from Stardancer; brown gelding Orange Bitters, 3yrs-, by Nassau (imp.) from Ormolu (imp.), and bay filly Wanigan, 2yrs„ by Nassau (imp.)—Sheebeen 11. (imp.), and Gold Frame, a filly foal by Nassau (imp.) from Ormolu (imp). There are twentytwo lots in all, and as in the list there is some useful racing and promising material and the mares are all well come, breeders and racing men alike will be turning their attention to this f sale, which follows the C.J.C. Easlter meeting.
