FEILDING JOCKEY CLUB.
SPRING MEETING. * The Feilding Jockey Club will hold their, spring meeting on Saturday and Monday, November 29 and December 1, when an excellent racing fare will be presented to patrons of this popular club. The sum of 233050v5. has been allocated for the first day’s events, and 1650sovs. for the second day, making a total of 3980sovs. for the two-day fixture. This is certain to prove a strong inducement to owners to nominate their horses liberally for the meeting, which should prove to be the most successful spring gathering ever held by the club. A special feature of the opening day will be the 14th Feilding Stakes, of 500sovs., w.f.a., five furlongs, in which a representative field promises to be on hand to contest this important classic. The principal handicap is the St. Andrew’s Handicap, of 500sovs., iy 2 miles, an event which invariably attracts a number of the leading performers in the North Island. The Flying Stakes Handicap, of 300sovs., six furlongs, and the Spring Hurdles Handicap, of 25050v5., about two miles, are both assured of substantial patronage from owners and trainers, while the remaining first day’s events are the Waituna Hack Hurdles, of 160sovs., 1% miles; Aorangi Trial Plate, of 160sovs., for horses that have never won a stake exceeding 50sovs., 5% furlongs; Kiwitea Welter Handicap, of 300sovs., one mile and 54 yards; and the Fitzroy Hack Handicap, of 160sovs., six furlongs.
The leading events on the second day will be the Manchester Handicap, of SOOsovs., 1% miles, and the Oroua Stakes, of SOOsovs., w.f.a., furlongs, both of which races are confidently expected to induce splendid nominations. Next in importance come the York Stakes Handicap, of 200sovs., seven furlongs; Cheltenham Hurdles, of 200sovs., 1% miles; and the Empire Welter Handicap, of 200sovs., one mile and a distance, whilethe minor events consist of the Rongotea Hack Hurdles, of 150sovs., 1% miles; Nikau Hack Handicap, of 150sovs., six furlongs; and the Novice Stakes, of 150sovs., for two-year-olds and upwards that have never won a race exceeding 50sovs. in value at time of starting, furlongs. Nominations for all events, except 14th Feilding Stakes, close on Friday, October 31, at the secretary’s office, Kimbolton Road, Feilding, at 8.30 p.m.
