Competition between Desert Gold and Cetigne at the autumn meetings will be watched with additional interest because they are so close together in stake winnings (says a writer in the Sydney “Sun”). Cetigne has earned £17,136 to date, while Desert Gold’s winnings total £17,115. The chances are they will be seen under silk in the same races throughout the meetings’, so that -whoever proves the better at weight-forage will get the bigger share of the prizes offered. It seems certain that one or other will catch up to Poseidon’s aggregate of £19,496, and thus secure third place on the list of winning horses in Australia, behind Carbine and Trafalgar.
