WHANGAREI RACING CLUB.
SUMMER MEETING.
The W’hangarei Racing Club’s summer meeting, which is to be held on the Kensington racecourse, Whangarei, on January 11 and 12, gives every indication of proving a record gathering in the annals of the club. The stake moneys allotted for the fourteen events which figure on the two days’ programme instance the progressive nature of the club’s officials, and it is gratifying to note that excellent nominations have been received for the respective events. The Whangarei Cup, of 150sovs., one mile and aquarter, has attracted an entry of sixteen horses, and there should still be a sufficient number left in when the acceptances close on Saturday next to ensure a. capital contest. The Park Handicap, of 12550v5., one mile, which comes up for decision on the
second day, will again see most of the Cup horses in action, when another sterling race may be expected. The meeting should attract a large number of patrons from Auckland, as it is widely recognised as one of the best gatherings outside the metropolitan fixtures in the Auckland province, and with the presence of a large number of Ellerslie-trained horses at Whangarei the success of the meeting appears assured.
