NORTH TARANAKI HUNT CLUB’S STEEPLECHASE MEETING.

TAKES PEACE ON AUGUST 31

Last week in drawing the attention of our readers to the above popular fixture, we inadvertently mentioned the date of meeting as August 24, whereas August 31 is the day upon which this Hunt Club carnival is to be held on the Taranaki Jockey Club’s racecourse. Owners and trainers have until next Friday week (August 11) to enter their horses for the various events 'figuring on the attractive programme, and an excellent response is anticipated. The secretary, Mr. E. L. Humphries, is sparing no effort to make the gathering as enjoyable as possible, and visitors should roll up in strong force to witness the best of the hunters in the Taranaki and surrounding districts in competition. Some high-class jumping is expected, and everything points to the North Taranaki Hunt Club’s annual steeplechase meeting proving highly successful, both from a sporting and financial point of view. The handicaps for the eight events which make up the varied and interesting programme are due to make their appearance on Wednesday, August 23, while acceptances close with the secretary on Saturday, August 26, at 9 p.m.
