KING’S THEATRE.
Life in all its selfishness and all its purity is pictured in “Gladiola,” an enchanting story with a country mouse as the heroine. Miss Viola Dana, in the title role, has never been seen to more charming advantage, and in transferring her power to the screen she carries the audience through many an appealing scene with rare force and intensity. Gladiola’s peaceful farm life and the part two lovers play in it supply all the requisite parts for a forceful “"movie” story. “The Beachcombers” is another absorbing drama with a strong heart interest, combining love
and adventure. Comedy is present in “Whiffles in War Time,” while the Pathe Gazette and “Making Big Shells” add to the merit of the programme. The star film for Monday next will be “A Garret in Bohemia,” featuring Edna Flugarth in a pathetic and beautiful romantic drama, depicting the love story of a young composer, Kenneth Douglas, and a teacher of painting, Miriam West. Other films will include “How Cer-tain-teed Roofing is Made,” “The Girl on the Bridge,” “She Took a Chance,” *The Bath Tub Mystery” (comic) and the Pathe Gazette.
