IN PERSONAL TOUCH.

Miss Rosina Buckman, has been engaged to sing in “Parsifal” at Covent Garden in January next. She has also been engaged for the grand opera season of 1914. Congratulations to the gifted New Zealand soprano!

Apropos of Miss Rosina Buckman’s success at Home, it is interesting to note that eight years ago Mr. Victor Beck (manager of the ‘‘Smart Set”) conducted a New Zealand tcur for Miss 'Buckman, when she starred a concert company with conspicuous success. “I knew her chance would come,” said Mr. Beck delightedly.

A “Message from Mars” has been successfully revived in Melbourne by the Hamilton —Plimmer Company.

The successful season of “The Sunshine Girl” at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Melbourne, will be cut short by the appearance of Genee and the Imperial Russian Ballet, which opens on June 21, so the Royal Comic Opera company wiL be transferred to Adelaide for a three weeks season.

She: ‘So you are sure that your new play will be a success.;” He: “Positive; why even the manager blushed when he read it.”

If for no other reason, the career of Genee, the world’s greatest dancer, would be unique by the fact that from the time she first made her conquest of adoring audiences, never has the carping pen of criticism been levelled at her performances. It would be safe to say that there is not another artist on the stage to-day to whom this sweeping tribute can be pa’d. For Genee stands alone in the realm of the dance. The position ie holds is summed up in the tribute paid to her recently by one of the leading American critics —“There is only one Genee.”

According to a London cable, the musical critics are enthusiastic over the singing of Florence Macßeth, an American soprano, who is only 22 years old. She has been trained in Italy. A great career is predicted for her. Her voice has a range of well cr two octaves.

“Puss in Boots” visits Masterton on June 16; Dannevirke, June 17; Hastings, June 18; Napier, June 19, 20; Gisborne, June 21, 22, 23, and then comes on to Auckland, opening at His Majesty’s Theatre on Thursday, June 26.

Mr. Stanley Grant (manager of ’ The Monk and The Woman” Company), will be bacJF again in August with a feast of mello-dramatic gems at present shedding their radiance in Australia. “We intend to devote the proceeds of one night’s performance to the funds of the Girls’ Orphanage, Takapuna,” said Mr. Grant to a “Review” representative.

Owing to the enormous success of “The Monk and The Woman” at His Majesty’s Theatre, the management has decided to extend the presentation of this sensational play for two add tional nights, /coVeirijig Monday and Tuesday of next week. On Wednesday it will give place to “Queen of the Redskins,” which will run till the following Saturday. The season will conclude with a four night’s presentation of “Her Forbidden Marriage.” jji j|i
