AQUATICS.
The New Zealand amateur rowing championships for the present, season are to be held in Wellington on Easter Saturday, 1913. In selecting Easter as a', fit and proper time for the decision of the championships, the Wellington Association have taken a step which should ensure the success of the gala. Given fine weather, the big aquatic carnival is certain to be largely attended, as holiday-makers are particularly partial to this form of outdoor enjoyment.
The programme to be decided on the occasion of the New Zealand championships is as follows: —- Maiden Fours. One mile. —First prize, £9; second, £2. To start at 11.30 a.m.
Champion Sculls. One mile and a half—First, £8; second, £2. Noon. Junior Fours. One mile and a half. — First, £l2; second, £3. 12.30 p.m. Champion Fours. Two miles. — First, £3O; second, £lO 1.30 p.m. Maiden Double Sculls. One mile. — First, £5; second, £ ; 1. 2 p.m. Youths’Fours. One mile. —First, £8; second, £2. 2.30 p.m.
Champion Double Sculls. One mile and a half.—First, £l2; second, £3. 2.45 p.m. Junior Fours. One mile. —First, £10; second, £2 3.30 p.m. Champion Pairs. One mile and a half. —First, £l2; second, £3. 4 p.m. Maiden Pairs. One mile. —First, £5; second, £l. 4.30 p.m. Senior Fours. One mile and a half. —First, £l2; second, £3. 5.15 p.m. The Champion Sculls, Junior Fours, Champion Fours, Double Sculls, and Pairs, and the Senior Fours are to be rowed in best-and-best boats, all other events in maiden boats as defined by the N.Z.A.R.A.
