Waipunui (Conquerer — Sheet Lightning), who won the two big events at the Nelson meeting, proved a remunerative bargain to his West Coast owner since his purchase six months ago. Waipunui won the. two principal events at Greymouth in October. At the Christmas meeting he ran second in the Cup to Curator, and won the big handicap on the second day. The Conqueror gelding has won fue times and filled second berth twice this season. At the conclusion of the Nelson meeting Mr J. J. Corry, of Blenheim, bought Waipunui for £135.
