, NOMINATIONS CLOSE TO- . ' MORROW’. The first-class programme of events to be decided at the Otahuhu Trotting Club’s Summer. Meeting, which takes

place on February 12, 16, and 19, should have the effect of keeping the Club’s secretary, Mr F. D. Yonge, very busy to-morrow (Friday), when he will rceive nominations from those owners who go in for trotting for all events to he decided at this popular gathering. For some time past this particular branch of sport has been making great (headway, not only in bringing large fields out to compete, but there 1 has also been noticeable a distinct/ ■ improvement in the class of tr.dt’ting horses. Reference to the programme, which will be found advertised iri ; this ; issue, will show that each and - every: event is worth winning, the arnount of stake money to be disributed 1 over the events showing a marked improvement compared with last year’s programme. On the opening day (Saturday), the Chief event is the Otahuhu • Trotting Club’s Handicap of TOO sovs., run over a two miles course, while the Pony Cup will also be run, the race for liliputians being worth 70 sovs., and decided over a six * and a-half furlongs course. The Special Handicap Trot is 'worth 60 sovs., and the Class) Syf- '' via Park, and Electric Trots o 0 sovs. ' each.' On the second day there is the Summer, of 55 soys., High-class, arid Alexandra, each of 50 sovs., the sum attached to ■ the Novel, Tramway, and Telegraph- being in each case 40' sovs?■ On the concluding day : the ' Criterion Trot of 65 sovs; will hold pride of place, followed: by the Onehunga and February,’these races being worth 50 sovs.' Besides the events mentioned; there is a race each day for' ' viz;, Pony-Grip of 70 sovs:, : Alexandria Handicap of 50 sovs., and Manakau Handicap of 50 sovs. The Cup extends over six and a ; half furlongs, but the two other events are each about half a mile.
