ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.

In view of the close proximity of the Takapuna Jockey Club’s Meeting, which opens on Saturday week, the tracks at Ellerslie are beginning to bear a very busy appearance, and some fairly interesting; work has taken place. Cymri and Pleiades gave a splendid display over the' steeplechase fences in the. middle of the course, taking the sod wall, water, stone wall, and double in good style. TUESDAY. The first gallop on Tuesday was registered by Advocate, who had Coromandel for a companion over a circuit on the tan, the distance occupying < 2.1 3-5. Rauparaha, alone, covered a circuit on the sand in 2.14. A circuit on the tan was apportioned to Ngapuka, the" son of Soult reaching the ipbst in 1.57 1-5. There was little to chose between Admiral Soult ad Excalibur at the ed of half a mile on the grass in 51 1-5. On the tan, Cambrian, who is ing well, fluttered over a similar distance in 56 3-ssec., but was not asked to do his best. ' Epsom Lass and Dunborve, F.’Stenning’s pair, left half a mile behind on the tan in 52 4-ssec.

Prince Leo was going strong at the end of a circuit on the sand in 2.7 2-5. Waiari, who was not out to break the watch, left six furlongs behind in 1.26 4-5. Zinnia and Lochbuie were locked together at the end of four furlongs on the sand in 51sec., both finishing well. Prophet left the seven furlong disc and ran home in 1.33 1-5. ■ Lieutenant . Soult and a Salvadan filly ran half a mile in 52sec., the former finishing in front. . Solus, Princess Soult, and Patricia had a rattling go from the five furlong post, finishing as written in 1.5 2-5. Lady Dot ran a fast half mile, easily beating Aristos in 49 3-ssec. Maiora, the latest addition to T.

Williams’ string, had Miss Stella well gone at the end of five furlongs in 1.5 4-5. His Highness and a Spalpeen filly ran half a mile in 51 3-5. Minstrel and Poiters sprinted three furlongs in 37 l-ssec. Leo got to the end of nine furlongs in 1.56 2-5, moving well. Waipu slipped over four furlongs in

52 ,4-ssec. Norway ran the same distance in 54 3-ssec. St. Maria was sent a round over the small sticks, giving- a good display. Don Quex and Loch Fyne started for a round over the small sticks, hut Don Quex came to grief at the first obstacle, giving O’Brien a severe shaking. Don Quex subsequently came out with Celtic and Hoanga and made no mistake, this time fencing carefully. However, Celtic had the best of the round. Others out doing useful work were Te Aroha, Tanekaha, Hyperion, Miss Advance, Cavaliero, Lady Patricia, Sea Elf, and Blue Vale.
