SNOOKER TOURNAMENT.
PONSONBY BILLIARD ROOM. The Snooker tournament at Mr. McNamee’s Billiard Saloon in Ponsonby Road is fast approaching finality, and the second round has now been concluded, and resulted as follows:—Pepper (40) beat McKinnon (45), Moore (35) beat O’Leary (65), Palmer (55) beat Nesbit (50), Gouk (45) beat Lynch (30), Byrnes (40) beat Reardon (25), Morse (28) beat J. White (40), Farquhar (30) beat Blakey (25), Wallace (45) beat Pitkeathly (30), Bond (25) beat O’Brien (40), Wilkinson (scratch) beat R. Smith (40), Barnes (25) beat Hawkins (30). Two games of Snooker are played, and the total of both games are counted together. The prize is an open order for £5, and the tournament, which has created a good deal of interest, has been responsible for some close finishes. In the match between Gouk and Lynch the scores read 97 —95. In addition to the above tournament, a 50 up billiard tournament is held every Friday evening, and creates a great deal of amusement. In the short flutter of 50 up some of the contestants receive as many as 40 start.
