A PROJECTED MATCH.

A match is being talked of which, for the sake of the good sport it would provide, will, I trust, get beyond the talking stage. This is a sweepstakes of £5 per boat between the cutters Kotiri, Ngatira, Waione, Ladye Wilma, and Rangatira. The conditions would be that the usual crews be carried, all yachts starting off the mark, and the course probably round Tiri Tiri and back. The yachts mentioned are all evenly matched, and the race would give rise to so much interest that a club steamer would have to be provided to follow the race. There has been a noticeable falling off in interest this season so far as racing among the larger yachts is concerned, but a purely sporting contest, of the kind mentioned would certainly do much to re-awaken it.
