Hawker’s ch g Tarpon, aged, by Sardine—Topsy, 11.7 (Whelan) Also ran: Kuala Lumpur 12.7, Napier 11.11, Encambine 11.0, Boisdale 11.0, Quail 10.8, Swimmer 10.7, Boomerang 10.7, Tact 10.6, Dalny 10.5, Wolseley 10.3, Novik 10.2, Confederate 9.12, Maine 9.5, Revealer 9.5, No Trouble 9.5, Postboy 9.3, Middlerise 9.3, Comus 9.0, Outcast 9.0. Cardinal won by a short neck. Ally Sloper was four lengths in advance of Tarpon, with Revealer close up, fourth.
