GISBORNE RACING CLUB'S WINTER MEETING.

FIRST DAY. The first day of the Gisborne Racing Club’s Steeplechase Meeting was held on Thursday in brilliant weather, with a good attendance. The sum of £5204 was put through the totalisator, and 18 bookmakers were licensed. The results of the racing were as follows:— HANDICAP HURDLE RACE, one mile and three-quarters. — Reservoir, 10.5, 1; Cinque, 9.6, 2; vv hataura, 10.11. 3. Also started: Tui, Noteorini, Oasis. PARK STEEPLECHASE, about three miles.—Bullworth, 9.13, 1; Kapakapa, 10.5, 2; Reay, 9.7, 3. Loch Fyne fell. There were seven starters. Time, 6m. 31%5.

For the second day of the meeting fine weather prevailed, and there was a large attendance. The sum of £5351 was put through the totalisator, making a total of £10,555 for the two days. The following are the results of the racing:— HANDICAP HURDLE RACE, two miles. —Whatakura, 10.2, 1; Reservoir, 10.11, 2; Oasis, 10.1, 3. Also started: Cinque. Won comfortably. Time, 4m. 3 3-5 s MAIDEN HACK HANDICAP, five furlongs.—M’stime, 9.12, 1; Hapuku, 9.2, 2- Elya, 9.0, 3. There were 10 starters. Won by two lengths. Time, Im. 4 2-5 s WAIKANAE HANDICAP, seven furlongs—Sar Ila, 10.4, 1; Hinetitama, 11.4, 2; Pluck, 9.0, 3. Also started: Stylish and Phooka. Won easily. Time, lm. 33s TE HAPARA STEEPLECHASE, about two miles and a-half. —Cinque, 10.2, 1; Reay, 9.7, 2; Morpeth, 10.0, 3. Also started: Bullworth, Papatu, Kapakapt, Creusot. Creusot ran off at the fiist hurdle, and Bullworth and Papatu fell. Cinque won by 20 lengths. Time, sm. 37 %s. HACK FLAT HANDICAP, six furlongs.—Mist'me, 9.10, 1; Waihekau, 9.3, 2; Naydine, 9.2, 3. There were 11 starters. Won by a length. Time, lm. 20s. FINAL STEEPLECHASE, about two m'les.—Aroha, 10.12, 1; Baltic, 10.5, 2; Kuranui, 9.7, 3. These were the only starters. Won anyhow. Time, 3m. 595. FAREWELL HANDICAP. — Douche, 10.13, 1; White Lie, 10.5, 2; Sarilla, 10.4, 3. There were 10 starters. Won by a length and a-half. Time, lm. 48 %s.
