FIRST DAY. The Taranaki Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting was commenced on Wednesday in showery weather. The totalisator investments amounted to £5733, against £5825 10s last year. The results of the racing were as follows:— KAWAROA HURDLE RACE. One mile and a-half. Speciosa, 9.11 (Whale) 1 Mooshen 2 Black Banner 3 Also started: Black Banner and Star Rose. Won by three lengths. Time, 2m. 525. STEWARDS’ HANDICAP. Five furlongs. Kareroa, 7.2 (Deeley) 1 Waihuka 2 Pylades 3 Also started: Cyrene, Carissima, St. Maria, Eastmere. Won by two lengths. Time, Im. 3s. PUKAKA HACK HANDICAP. Six furlongs. Miss Vera, 8.3 (Buchanan) 1 Lamsdorff 2 Crucinella 3 Also started: Billow, Burton, Nukutihi, Inaha, Ney, Otaroa. Won by half a length. Time, Im. 16 2-ss. TARANAKI CUP. One mile and aquarter. Uhlando, 8.2 (Barlow) 1 Mahuta 2 Scotty ...... 3 Also started: Gazeley, Dear Dolly, Starina, Signor, Wee Trinket. Won by half a length, Scotty being two lengths away third. Time, 2m. 10 l-ss.

For the second day of the Taranaki Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting, fine weather prevailed, the resuts of the racing being as follows:— PUKOTORI HACK HURDLE RACE. Moriarty 1 Waihuka 2 Kareroa 3 Also started: St. Maria, Supplement, Pylades. Won by half a length. Time, lm. 2 2-ss. WHAREPAPA HACK HANDICAP. Inaha 1 Nukutihi 2 Silver Lead 3 Also started: Billow, Hydraulic, Crucinella, Burton, Mistress. Won by two lengths. Time, lm. 17s. PAUL MEMORIAL HANDICAP.
