O’NEILL’S BUCKJUMPERS.
This popular organisation under the direction of Mr Charles McMahon has met with the success it undoubtedly deserves, the large marquee being nightly filled. The turns are all so good it is hard to place one in the premier place. Messrs Ernie and Sid O’Neill gave a splendid exhibition of riding, while the jumping of the horse Ruby was faultless. Miss O’Neill caused much applause by her daring riding, and the fun was provided by “Joey,” the clown, with his moke “Janey,” and the various attempts of amateurs to stick on the buckjumpers. A pleasing feature of Monday night’s entertainment was the presenting of the trophy to Mr Arthur, of Gisborne, by Mr Lindsay Cooke of the Metropolitan Hotel, as the winner of the 'Buckjumping Competition. Messrs Davis and Newman being the runners upf. We understand a gold medal on view at Mr Kohn’s, Queen-street, will be the prize for the second local competition.
