BOWLING.
Bowlers have had a splendid innings this year, the long spell of fine weather making the greens as keen as could be wished. What a numher of games will be played between now and our next issue, for if the weather holds good all the greens will be alive with flannel-clad figures.
Quite a number of Auckland bowlers have departed for the country, contingents leaving for Rotorua, Te Aroha and Hamilton, where tournaments will be held.
The time for receiving entries for the Hamilton tournament has been postponed until this Monday evening.
Club matches were in full swing on Saturday, and a large number of games were got through. On the Auckland green Easton’s Gold Buckles team went down very badly, Gorrie’s four' running out winners by 33 to 11.
Ledingham has been in great form during the week. He outed Coombes in the Auckland Championship, and then defeated Lambert in the Singles. The Australian trip has evidently freshened him up. * * * *
It was with very great regret that the news of the death of Mr Laxon was received. He was exceedingly popular on the green, being a member of the Carlton and Remuera Clubs, acting as ground superintendent of the latter.
