THE TUBE IN ENGLAND.
RESULT OF THE ECLIPSE STAKES. At the Sandown Park meeting on July 17 the followg was the result of the principal event:— The Eclipse Stakes of 10,000' sovs; about one mile and a-quarter. Mr J. Gubbins* br h Ard Patrick, 4yrs, by St. Florian —Morganette, 10.2, including 101 b penalty ... 1 Captain Bass’ b m Sceptre, 4yrs, by PersimmonOrnament, 9.13, including 101 b penalty ... 2 Sir James Miller’ c Rock Sana, 3yrs, by Sainfoin — Roqiiebrune, 9.4, including 101 b penalty .. .. ... 3 Other starters —Duke of Westminster and Oziole. Ard Patrick and sceptre fought out a desperate finish, victory resting with the latter by half-a-length, Rock Sand three-lengths away third, after whom came Duke of Westminster.
