4 [By our Canterbury Correspondent.! The South Canterbury Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting commences on Thursday (to-day) Most of the Riccartonowned horses having engagements at the meeting left to-day (Tuesday). The following are my selections : — Washdyke Welter.—Liberty. Autumn Handicap. —Sequin. Pony Handicap.—Mania. High-Weight Handicap.—Clinker. Flying Handicap. —Rochester | Trot.—Wanaka.
Mr William Lucifer, who is now performing at the City Hall, is anxious to meet any athlete either in an all-rouud athletic competition, in a wrestling match or in a weight-lifting competition. If we have anybody m or around Auckland who would care to try conclusions with Lucifer arrangements satisfactory to both parties could be completed at our office.
