A COMPLAINT.

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —Would you allow me, through the columns of your valuable paper, to lay a complaint against the working of the totalisator at the Onga Onga meeting, held on the 28th inst. In the Hack Handicap, won by Sylvanus 8.13, the total should have registered 289, whereas it only showed 28. In the dispute which followed, Mr Abrahams, of Waipawa, the owner, explained to the stewards that this mistake frequently happened. Now, Sir, if such is the case, how are the public to place any reliance on the machine. It is the only means we have of betting, and it seems to me’that there is a screw loose somewhere. If such is the case, the sooner it is seen into the better. By inserting this, you will greatly oblige yours, etc., Geoege Day, Mount Herbert, Waipukurau, H.B.
