NORTHERN WAIROA R.C ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Northern Wairoa R.C., held on December 26 and 27, was favoured with beautiful weather, and the attendance, though not quite equal to last year’s, was very satisfactory. The various events resulted as follows :— EIRST DAY. Hurdle Race. Two miles. —Mr Ngakuru Pene’s Ben, 1 ; Mr Sarah’s Oscar, 2 ; Mr Johnston’s Warwick, 3. Awaroa fell at the first hurdle. Dividend, £1 Bs. Hack Race. — One mile, —Mr Russell’s Mick, 1; Mr Phillip’s Fey, 2 ; Mr Crowin’s Gaiety, 3. Eight started. Dividend, 19s. Northern Wairoa Cup. ,One mile and three-quarters. —Mr Ngakuru’s Pakeha, 1 ; Mr Finlayson’s Review, 2; Mr Ngakuru Waare’s Forest Q.ueen, 3. Five started. Dividend, 16s. Maiden Plate. One mile and a half.—Review, 1; Dolph, 2; Ben, 3. Rabelais also started. Dividend, £3 4s. Railway Plate. One mile.—Pakeha, 1; Transit, 2; Skylark, 3. Rabelais also started. Dividend, 19s. Pony Race. One mile. —Mr Brown’s Toby, 1; Mr Jowitt’s Sulky, 2; Mr Swaflield’s Topsy, 3; Gimp and Skipper also ran. Dividend, £6 12s. Gumdiggers’ Purse. One mile and a quarter.—Pakeha, 1; Transit, 2 ; Forest Queen, 3. These were the only starters. Dividend, 14s. SECOND DAY. Hurdle Race. Two miles.—Warwick, 1 ; Ben, 2. Awaroa baulked at the second hurdle, Ben fell at the fourth hurdle, and Warwick had a walk over. Dividend, £1 7s. Kaipara Handicap. One mile and a half. — Pakeha,!; Dolph, 2; Review, 3. These were the only starters. Dividend, £1 7s. Publicans’ Purse. One mile and a quarter. —Transit, 1 ; Pakeha, 2 ; Dolph, 3. Won by half a length after a good race. Dolph ran off the course. Dividend, 18s. Hack Race. One mile.—Daphne, 1 ; Mick, 2; Archie, 3. Loch id and Gaiety also ran. Dividend, £ll 12s. Grandstand Handicap, three-quarters of a mile. —Rabelais, 1 ; Transit, 2 ; Forest Queen, 3. Skylark also ran. Dividend 245. Forced Handicap, one mile. —Rabelais, 1; Warwick, 2; Topsy, 3. These were the only starters. Dividend, 18s.
