ROWING.
The final heat of the St. George’s Rowing Club trial fours took place last Saturday afternoon, and was won by Clark's crew after a hard tussle. Mr T. Foley has presented a set of club caps to the second crew in the final for the medals presented to the Waitemata-City Boating Club by their captain (T. B. O’Connor), to be rowed for this month. ,
Auckland and St. George’s Rowing Clubs have not picked their crews for Ponsonby and Judge’s Bay regattas. Capt. H. Parker, of Her Majesty’s Customs, was inadvertantly omitted from the list of vicepresidents of the Waitemata-City Boating Club in the daily paper reports. The champion silver cup held by the Waitemata Boating Club is to be held by Mr L. Ehrenfried during his term of office as commodore of the Club.
I hear that Jimmy McDermott, of running fame, is to train the West End crews for the. forthcoming regattas. Waitemata-City Boating Club cabled to Sydney last week re a new racing gig. I believe she is to be a clinker. /.
The final heat for the St. George’s Bay trial fours was a great race from start to finish, the winning crew, steered by Clark, managing to creep home by two feet/ only. The following . were the crews : —1 : Clarke, Whitley, Slat or, and McDell; 2 : Thompson, Brigham, Crombie, and Hogan.
