DRURY RACING CLUB’S SUMMER MEETING.

Mr W. Knight has declared the weights in connection with the Drury Races, and on the whole his work may be considered satisfactory. In putting 8.4 on Red Rose for the pony race, the handicapper shows he knows what this mare can do when in proper fighting order, and in giving Storyteller top weight, viz., 9 4, he may be pardoned if he thought that this pony was in nothing like correct trim at the Spring Meeting at Ellerslie. On the form displayed by Annabelle in her Spring Handicap win at Otahuhu last Saturday, Mr Burke’s mare appears to be underweighted with 7.4 in the Drury Cup. She carried 7.2 at Otahuhu, and beat the heads off Van Diemen, 8.9, and Ida, 8.8. The former will have to concede her 2st 21bs in the mile and a half run for the Drury Cup, and the latter will have to give her 2St. On her Otahuhu form Annabelle should easily get away from Mr Wright’s and Mrs Lennard’s representatives even over the extra quarter of a mile. The Hurdle Race has poor entries, there being only three nominations, but those for the other events are very satisfactory. There are 11 in for the Pony Race, 13 for the Drury Cup, the same number for the Stewards’ Handicap, and 8 for the Drury Club’s Handicap. Acceptances are due tomorrow, December 15th, and selections will appear next week.
