THE NEW ZEALAND TEAM IN AUSTRALIA.

The New Zealand players were Full-back, Wilson ; three-quarters, Jervis, Wynyard, and Harper; halves, Butland and Bayley; forwards, D’Arcy, McKenzie, Ellison, Cockroft, Lambie, Stuart, Murray, Pringle and Speight. The Queenslanders played three halves and eight forwards as compared with the New Zealanders’ two halves and nine forwards. Not long after play commenced McKenzie secured a try for New Zealand, but Wilson failed in the attempt at goal. When play was resumed, Bayley returned the ball to Austin, who sent it back to Ellison, who marked. Wilson tried to kick a goal, but again failed. Soon afterwards Ellison again marked, and this time Wilson was equal to the occasion and sent the ball over the bar. No further score was registered before half-time was called, though some dashing play was shown by both sides. When the second spell started there was a lot of give-and-take play before Wilson obtained a mark and forced the

Queensland men with a long pot at goal. The Queenslanders then gave their opponents a lot of trouble to defend their goal line, but New Zealand came out on top agaiu, for Bayley marked and Ellison placed a nice goal. Soon afterwards time was called, the score standing:— New Zealand, 12 ; Queensland, 3.
