Drury Races.

The annual meeting of the Drury Racing Club was held yesterday in fine weather. A good crowd journeyed from Auckland by special excursion train, and with local reinforcements the attendance showed up well. ios went through the totalisator at 10s tickets. There were five runners for the Hurdles, and Ika Vuka was favourite. Sandy Muir led all the way and won by a length from the favorite, with Isidore a fair third. Dividend, £2 2s. Four was the strength of the field for the Flying Handicap, and Transit and Stamford were very evenly backed. Transit led throughout, and won easily by two lengths from Stamford, with Brian Boru third. Dividend, is. Again did backers of the favourite score in the Maiden Plate, fir Retaliation, on whom a shade of’odds was laid, got home with a bit in hand from Fort-a-Bras, Sandy Muir and four others. Dividend, 19s. Retaliation is by\St. Leger (sire of St. Hippo) out of Foul Shot’s half-sister Reproach. Only a trio 'contested the Drury Cup, and Orini wdn comfortably by a length from King Cahnibal. The dividend was 18s. Brian Boru had an easy win in the Novel Handicap, in which he was opposed by four others. The dividend was 15 s. The Racing Club Handicap only brought out Stamford and King Cannibal, and a good race resulted m King Cannibal winning by a length all out. Dividend, 14s. Transit was favourite in a field of four for the Stewards’ Handicap, and he won somewhat comfortably by half-a-length

from Ika Vuka, with King Cannibal third. Dividend, 12s.
