Worth, by Natator —Grecian Bend, has been purchased by Hon. J. D. Ormond of Hawke’s Bay, the price being He left Wanganui last Wednesday, July 22nd for Marton, where he will be under the charge of J. Green, of Croftdh, who will school him over jumps with the ttaiigi’tikei hounds, probably with a view of the Hunt Club Steeplechase, which takes place on September 3rd. As he is possessed of a good turn of pace it should not be long before Bis Return’s his purchase money. ’ j. Green has also in work, Ros, by Anteros —Mdrtbnian’s dam, and Rustic. They will be starters at the Hunt Club Meeting, providing all goe£ well. The Rangitikei Hunt Club hold their meetpn the Marton Jockey Club’s course on September 3rd There are two races, confined id the hunters—the Cup and Bracelet —both bVer fenced, and a Trial Steeplechase comprises the jumping events, while three Hack Races— HiiidleS, 2 miles, Flat, ij miles. Flat, threebukrter miles —fill up the programme. Noiriirialidns for all handicap faces close oh Monday, August 17th, at 9 p.m., weights to be declared on the 21 st of August in the Rangitikei Advocate. G. Chamberlain has started handling Norton’s half brother, by Sou’wester- —Romp. This youngster is taking kindly to his new duties and now goes along very quietly. R. Wheeler returned from the Wellington races last week. Since his return he has taken Te Ata on the track again, probably with a view of the Hunt Club races. He has also taken up - La Petite Fille again ; this mare is looking big dfid well, and should give a good account of Übrself next season. J. Belcher has in work Foxton and Waihi, in View of the Grand National Meeting, to which I believe both will journey. He also has in Work Cretonne, who he is getting forward for thb New Zealand Cup; also Boulanger, who is looking well and big at present. I see by the Auckland correspondent of the 'Weekly Press that there is ah offer in Auckland for two good hunters for the Sydney market. How would Corsair suit ? He is a splendid jumper arid also fast, having won a large number events; also Ridge, by Bull’s Eye—Peter Flat mare, he is also a winner, and is one of the best jumpers in New Zealand. The price wanted for Ridge is, I believe, Corsair’s price I do hot kriow, but I understand that Mr. Scally, his owner wishes to sell. , It is reported that Marksman has been purchased by Mr. Purcel of Foxton, the price hiring j&idb.

Wanganui Jockey Club Annual Meeting. The annual meeting of the Wanganui Jockey Club was held at the Rutland Hotel on the night Of the 23rd inst., when the annual statemerit 1 of accounts ending June 30th 1891, were placed before members of the Club. The frebeipts, as shown, amount to 13s gd, being £340 9s rod in excess of those for the year previous. The expenditure totals up to Z3«5 2 5 15s id, as against 3s lid for 189’6', leaving a surplus of 18s Bd. The balance-sheet discloses a satisfactory state of affairs of the Club, and the fact that if all the moneys held on account of future Derbys, Two-year-old Stakes, etc., were paid over, there would remain a credit balance of 11s nd. The committee have decided to revise soirie of the' bye-laws of the Club, and therefore suggest that the following alterations should be given effect to, viz.:—'Clause 9 to read, “That at the annual meeting the Club shall elect by ballot, Stfewards not to exceed seven, and all horidrary officials of the Club ; they shall also elect four membe'fs to serve on the committee.”

Clause 1 o' to read, “All paid officials shall be appointed by the committee, and shall hold office during the pleasure of the committee, and a three months notice under the hand of the: chairman of committee shall be sufficient to terminate any engagements.” Clause; 11 to read, “That the committee shall consist of not more than twelve members (the judge, and. treasurer to be ex offxio members of committee), whose duties shall be to frame programmes and control the general business of the Club for the ensuing year—five to form aitjuorum.. .: Four of the committee shall retire annually in rotation, such rotation to be decided

by lot; the retiring members to be eligible for re-election. In the event of any vacancy occuring during the year, the committee shall appoint, if they think fit, a member of the Club to fill such vacancy.” The following officers of the Club were unanimously re-elected : President, S. Harrison ; Vice-president, J. Cameron; Judge, W. T. Owen ; Clerk of Scales, E. A. Campbell ; Timekeeper, W. Wilson ; Clerk of Course, C. H. Chavannes ; Hon. Surgeon, Dr. Tripe. The following seven gentlemen were elected Stewards —Drs. Earle and Connoly, Messrs. Parsons, W. Wilson, A. Higgie, H. Harrison, and H. B. Williamson. The following Committee were elected —Dr. Earle, Messrs Parsons, A. Higgie, H. N. Harrison, R. Higgie, H. B. Williamson, Dr. Connolly, Messrs. Chavannes, Downes, F. Jones, W. Wilson, and W. Bamber ; the last four to retire at the next annual meeting;

Mr. Parsons moved, “ That it be a suggestion to the incoming committee that there be two day’s racing in the Spring. Carried. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded one of the rnost influential meetings the Club have ever had.
