A.A.A. & C.C. SPORTS.

Training Notes. Peace, Edmunds, Macfarlane, Seccombe, O'Dowd, and others, are in training for the walk. The two former are moving very freely, and will give a good account of themselves on th|e ?zpd November if all goes well. Owen, Hutchinson, Collins and Brigham are under White’s charge* an.d have been putting in some slow work., I am glad to see Owen on the track again, but after his severe accident last meeting I am in doubt as to his standing a preparation. Joe Taylor has Laird, Taylor, Bull and Johnstou (bicyclist) in. hand, and the first three have each put in satisfactory work during the last week. > The latter I think is going to try his hand at the running game. Mowbray and Clarke are under the care of McHugh. I think the former will make a good man. Jack Lecky has. Barlow Madigan under his; wing-, and he has been striding along nicely. The Myers brothers have been at it some weeks, and both show improvement. I should like to see one of them win, as they deserve credit for the manner in which they stick to. it. Goodman has Dfckey, Lyfich and others undfer his charge,, and both of them are much improved men. Barton and Whiteside, are both running very nicely, but rumour hath it that they are, going for- the Demonstration events, which I hope is not true.

DEMONSTRATION SPORTS.

Goodman, Holt, Smith, Fenton, and several others, are getting into, condition for the walk, but I think the man that beats the first named will win jt, unless he- himself has anything under his charge that can do so. ? Howie, McDermott, and- Purdy are all stridalong in a taking manner. McKean and Bailey I believe- are training- at- St. Maryas Cricket Ground, Ponsonby, so I cannot speak as to their condition,. The half mile. should 1 be a great “go” with Ho.wie,.McKean and Bailey in it. Entries/ for the different; events.are, very large.. The races- will be held; on, the cricket: ground on Prince of Wales’ Birthday, November 10th.

A handicap. sculling f race, took place on the Fitzroy River’ The course-was of the distance of three-miles.. The competitors, were Mackron 30 secs., Chris Neilsqn 12 secs., J , Stansbury 4 secs., and Peter Kemp scratch. Kemp won easily from Neilson.. Stansbury, although he put oji as tremendqus .spurt at the finish, was half a length asyay..,, r , nA novel challenge has been issued. Three brothers —George, Thomas and Maur-iceMead-ham, aged.respectively 2 j/, j#and, 13—challenge any three brothers,of the, same age in, New. South Wales to swim them for a trophy value and; a.side wager of £lOO.

Recluse, who dropped out of the New Zealand Cup on Friday, is. reported' to be looking healthy, but very big;
