March 7. Garden Party. A most successful garden party was given at the hospital grounds on Friday by Dr. Hatherly, the president of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association, and Mrs. Hughes Johnson. The grounds were looking very pretty, and the band sweet music during the afternoon. Mrs. Hughes Johnson wore a becoming frock of biscuit silk, with lace the same tone, large straw hat with plumes; Mrs. Moore wore a beautiful frock of golden brown erepe de chine with embroideries, brow’n hat with feathers the same shade; Mrs. Krull, black charmeuse robe with laee and net, black and white bonnet; Mrs. McLean (Auckland) wore a heliotrope gown with lace, straw hat with heliotrope flowers in it; Mrs. Geo. Currie, pale pink frock with net yoke and sleeves, cream straw hat with wreath of pink flowers; Mrs. J. Allen wore a cream frock and chiffon scarf, straw hat with cherry colour in it; Mrs. Parkes (Auckland), smart shot heliotrope taffetas with shaded silk embroidery in the same tones, heliotrope hat with flowers; Mrs. R. Izard, cream frock with lace, blaek and white straw hat with ostrich plumes; Mrs. D. Wilkin, cream gown and lovely long black ninon coat with cream lace, black hat with osprey at the side; Mrs. Harold wore a pretty foulard frock with touch of rose pink, black hat. with long feather in it; Mrs. James Watt, pink flowered silk froek with chiffon, large straw flat with white roses and foliage; Mrs. Howard Christie, smart navy blue Bengaline coat and skirt, cream hat with pale blue in it; Mrs. Gifford Marshall wore a becoming pale grey crepe do chine froek, light straw hat with deep cream roses; Mrs. Ballance, black charmeuse gown with jet, black hat with plumes; Miss Alexander wore an electricblue gown with chiffon and embroidery, large blue hat with shaded ostrich feathers; Mrs. Cecil Wray wore navy blue eoat and skirt, piped with white, black hat; Miss Gilfillan wore a black silk gown with laee, black- bonnet; Mrs. Crawford, blue silk robe with net vest, blaek hat with plumes; Miss Cruickshanks. mole coat and skirt, cream vest, black hat with feathers; Miss Christie, shot blue silk with tunic of fine cream shadow laee, finished at the waist with tiny pink roses, cream hat with blue ribbons and pink roses; Miss G. At the Races. The weather was good for the second day’s racing on Saturday, and there was a large attendance. Krull wore a white linen coat and skirt, white vest, black straw hat with black Ostrich tips and pale pink roses; Mrs Dunn, white voile gown, with Irish crochet lace on the bodice and skirt, large cream straw hat with wreath of blue roses veiled in tulle; Mrs J.
