November 16. Kindergarten School Conference. Delegates from Christchurch and Wellington have visited Dunedin lately in connection with the Kindergarten Schools’ Conference, held last week with such successful meetings, and it is hoped Auckland delegates will see their way to be present at - the next conference, which will probably be held in Wellington as more central. Airs James Allen gave a large garden party also in honour of the visitors, and Mrs John Roberts a small afternoon tea at “Littlebourue House.” Visit by His Excellency. Ilis Excellency the Governor paid a farewell visit to Dunedin this week. He arrived on Monday, stayed at the Fernhill Club, and attended the conversazione given in his honour in (he evening in the Victoria Hall. On Tuesday his Excellency lunched at Bishop’s Grove with the Primate and Mrs Nevi!!, in the afternoon opened the 36th Annual Exhibition of the Otage Art Society, of which Air Joachim is president, and in the evening opened the spacious new building for the Young Men’s Christian Association. Personal Airs Sydney Nathan (Auckland) and her mother, Airs Baume, have spent -a few days in Dunedin this week, and are staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr and Mrs Aufrere Fenwick, Miss Boyse and Aliss Burnett have gone to Christchurch for the races, and Aliss Nita Woodhouse has been staying for some weeks with her aunt, Airs Denniston. The uncertain condition of the weather prevented the usual exodus for Christchurch at this season. Air. Airs and Alias Marjorie Hart have returned from England, and at present

are busy getting their home in Royal Terrace ready after nearly five years ahpenee. Afr and Mrs Jack Reid (Elderslie) and ■their children returned last week from England, their trip being somewhat shortened on account of the death of Air Reid, sen., of Elderslie.
