HASTINGS.

February 24th. Very Quiet. We had a very quiet week, social functions having been quite at a standstill. The .polo ground is looking at its best and, with the new buildings, is an ideal spot to spend a few pleasant hours. The tennis and croquet grounds, too, are looking very green after - the rain. Colonel and' Mrs Goring left last Friday for Wellington en route for England. Invitations are issued by Sir Wm. and Lady Russell for an “At Home’’ at their residence, “Flaxinere,” on March sth. Friends of Mr Donald will be sorry to ■hear that he is seriously ill. Dr. MeKibbin has gone to 'Wellington to meet Mrs MeKibbin, who has been south for a holiday.
