January 22. Visitors. The weather has been simply- glorious, and visitors are enjoying it to the full. Amongst strangers in the town just now are: Air. C. H. Weston (manager of the “Taranaki Herald’’). Dr. Cahill, Air. TV. C. Kensington, 1.5.0., the Hon. J. A. Millar (Minister for Railways), Alisses J. B. Williamson and Burrows (Auckland), Dr. Tomson and son (Dunedin), Rev. and Alisses Smith (Picton), Messrs. Johnson and Fawcett (Auckland), Air., Afrs. and Aliss Wyllie (Gisborne), Air. and Afrs. Cullock (Gisborne), Air. Phillips Turner, Air. Morrison (Wellington), Air. Shera, Air. and Airs. Tudehope. Air. Duder, Captain Robinson (Auckland). Air. F. Matthews (Wellington), Air. and Airs. Howarth (Canterbury), Air. and Afrs. Marcus (Auckland), Air. and Airs. St. Clair and family (Devonport). Aliss Paton (Auckland). His Excellency and Party. His Excellency the Governor and Lady Islington and party- are camping at Ngongataha for the fishing. Tennis. Messrs. McLoughlin (America) and Dunlop (Australia) gave an exhibition game of tennis on Tuesday morning at the Sanatorium Gardens. The visitors who happened to be present enjoyed a treat. Considerable interest has been taken in the games played On the Government tennis courts during the past few days, a tennis racquet having been donated to the Rotorua Tennis Club by a private gentleman for competition among lady players at present in Rotorua. The match takes the form of handicap singles of 40 points up. Following are the results of the piny so far: —Miss
Empson (owes 5) beat Miss S. Paton (ser.), 40-24; Mrs. Higbain (ser) beat Miss Ross (ser), 40-32; Miss M. Paton (ser) beat Miss Hawksworth (receive 10), 40-28. -Second round: Mrs. Highani (ser) beat Miss Knipson (owe 5), 40-37. Several of the games in the first round nave yet to be played.
